Tinginys / Lazy

No, I'm not going to write about how lazy I am. It's a recipe of Lithuanian kind of cake kind of sweet and it's called Tinginys, or Lazy.

Why it's called lazy? Well, it takes about 20 minutes to make it. If you have guests coming over on a short notice, it's a great dessert to make. There are a lot of different variations of it: with curd, with caramel and, of course, other variations that I'm not even aware of. I'll show you how to do the original one (with nuts in it).

You will need:
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 100 grams / 3.52 oz of butter (it can have salt in it - it's still going to be really sweet)
  • 4 to 5 full teaspoons of cocoa powder
  • 10 to 15 malted milk biscuits (half a pack)
  • Pecan nuts or walnuts (I usually add nuts, there's no nuts in an original recipe, but I like them)

Pour the condensed milk into a pot and put it on a low heat. Chop the butter into a few smaller pieces and add it to the condensed milk. Stir.

Stir until it starts to melt and then add the cocoa powder. Stir again. The mass has to become even (and brown. Thanks to cocoa powder). Bring it to a near boil and you're done with it. The gooey mass has to cool down a bit before you mix it with nuts and biscuits.

Now, break the biscuits into smaller pieces (not too small though, try to break them into squares). Put it all into a bowl. Wash and towel dry the nuts and add them as well.

Now, the gooey mass cooled down a bit (it still has to be a bit warm), time to add it to the bowl and mix all the contents.

When done, use the cling film to wrap it. Make a huge sausage out of it (or any other form you like) secure it well in a cling film and put it in the fridge. Let it settle in the fridge for at least 3-5 hours. Cut it into slices afterwards. Now you're free to enjoy it!

Enjoy sensibly, because it has about 2 million calories :). So worth it though!
